Ground floor to open next Monday

The ground floor of the Boots Library opens next Monday, which means the main entrance will be back in action.  Come and have a look as it will look quite different to the old entrance and floor.  Rest assured there will be books on the shelves by Monday morning.  The Psychology books in the 150s will be relocated to the ground floor.  We hope you like it!

New streaming service at NTU

NTU is now subscribing to Box of Broadcasts, fondly known as BoB.  You can now select your own TV and radio programmes to be streamed, which can then be shown on any PC with internet access.  I’ll continue to select programmes which I think are relevant to the courses I support, but you’ll need to search the BoB archives to find them as they’ll no longer be recorded onto DVD.  Find BoB in the Find Databases section of Library OneSearch.

Inter library loans FAQs

How many requests can I make?

  • UGs – 20 for the duration of your course
  • Taught PGs – 20 per academic year
  • Researchers and staff – 50 per academic year

How do I make a request?

Do I really have to print off the articles?  It’s not very green.

You must print off the articles. This is to comply with digital copyright, and is the only way the British Library can legally supply electronic articles. They have to email a link to the PDF, not the PDF itself.

What happens if I have problems printing the article?

  • Email the inter library loans team immediately at LIB ILLs Boots, so the link can be resent. This will not further reduce your allocation.
